In the late 90’s he started photographing regional events such as the Texas Cutting Futurity and Bluebonnet Stakes. In the late 90’s he photographed events for America’s Cutter and America’s Barrel Racer. In the early 2000’s he began photographed the Texas Fasig-Tipton Sales for The Texas Thoroughbred.
Jim began his work for Western Bloodstock at the Summer Spectacular Sale of 2004 and continued photographing these sales after the Barwicks’ took over ownership. Beginning with the Futurity of 2012, Jim has photographed events for Dave and Arlene Hart at the NCHA Triple Crown events and has covered the NCHA National Championships which are held in conjunction with the Futurity each year.

He worked until the mid 2000’s in the Oil and Gas Services assisting clients with seismic interpretation workstation projects.
